The Borders of some of these maps were very large, and I observed that the sizes given online for the same map varied significantly because of this. The images were cropped to have one inch borders all round the printed region and this size is given which is therefore 2 inches more in both dimensions than the Map.

The Maps were scaned at 600 dpi at the Sri Lanka National Archive in Colombo using their overhead A0 flatbed scanner on 2018 November . The total 14GB of .tif files were obtained on 3 DVDs, reduced to 520MB of .jpg images at High quality(80%) at same resolution and finally reduced to 16MB of .jpg images at Medium quality(50%) and 100 dpi resolution to illustrate for these web-pages. The original scans are available at Sri Lanka National Archives for non commercial Research and Educational use.

I thank the Director of National Archives Dr Nadeera Rupesinghe and Ms H. M. Deepanee who setup the scanning and documentation to archive the maps as a digital collection in the Department of National Archives.
